Local Business Taxes and Registrations

In response to the actions of unscrupulous persons who would present local occupational licenses to consumers as proof of competency to perform various repairs and services, the Florida Legislature recently amended Chapter 205, Florida Statutes, to change the terms “Occupational License Tax” and “Occupational License” to “Local Business Tax” and “Business Tax Receipt".

The Town of Hypoluxo amended its ordinances to conform to the new terminology utilized by the Florida Legislature effective January 1, 2007.

All businesses in the Town are required to have a Local Business Tax Receipt from the Town of Hypoluxo. This includes businesses that operate out of a residence and residential rental units. Local Business Tax Receipts protect the quality of life for the Town of Hypoluxo.

If you are opening a new business, please contact the Town of Hypoluxo to see what is required.  Local Business Taxes are due prior to Oct. 1st every year and new businesses are charged a 1/2 year fee if they open after April 1st.
