General FAQ

How do I get to the Town Hall and what are the office hours?

The Town Hall facility is located at 7580 South Federal Highway. This is approximately 1/2 mile south of Hypoluxo Road on the east side. The facility is Key West style with a tin roof. You will see three flags and a clock. Our drive is just north of the Mariners Cay entrance. Office hours are 9 AM until 4 PM Monday through Friday.

If I am planning on opening a business, what must I do?

Contact the Town Hall for specific information.  The first step is to file an application (forms are available to download on the Local Business Tax page on this site) to make sure you are in the proper zoning district for the type of business you wish to operate.  Commercial locations - If the zoning is appropriate, the building official and fire inspector must inspect and approve the premises.  Home Occupations - Certain restrictions apply.  An annual fee is collected.

When does one need a building permit?

If you are unsure a permit is needed it is always wise to check with the building official prior to making alterations.  Call the Town Hall at (561) 582-0155.
